At this time, the coronavirus outbreak has caused great concerns worldwide, making it a global pandemic. Coronaviruses are a group of viruses causing illnesses affecting one’s lungs and airways. The latest strain of the coronavirus can be traced from a seafood market in China, where they sell and trade wild animals. According to the World Health Organization’s report, the first appearance of this novel virus was on December 31, 2019.

COVID-19, as what the World Health Organization calls the coronavirus disease, has already affected several countries worldwide and continues to change the globe. With more than 181,000 people contracted and over 7,000 reported deaths, this pandemic has startled the world. The elderly and those with weak immune systems are prone to contracting the virus, so here are a few lifestyle tips to keep us all safe and healthy.

Follow Guidelines and Protocol

Being that the heightened spread and severity has alarmed several countries all over the world, Governments and health organizations are working non-stop to release mandates and orders to help contain the spread of the virus. Most communities are under lockdowns and quarantines to make sure there’s no further spread of the disease.

This might sound simple to do, but we understand the difficulties that come along with it. However, in light of what is happening and what else might happen in the future, it is best to follow these protocols not only to help the community but for you to stay safe as well.

Observe Social Distancing

Along with the request to stay at home, it also best to observe social distancing. The virus quickly spreads through close contact. Medical professionals suggest, one must keep a one-meter distance when interacting with other people. Everyone is calling off events and mass gatherings to support this.

Monitor Your Health

In battling this global pandemic, the first step to staying healthy starts with you. Make sure that you keep a balanced and healthy diet. Take care of yourself to avoid getting ill. Take in necessary precautions and actions to boost your immune system because this will help fight the viruses just in case it gets in you.

You must also take note of the symptoms of COVID-19. A contracted victim might experience cough, sore throat, fever, runny nose, pneumonia, and severe cases of breathing difficulties. If you feel any of this, go to your nearby hospital immediately and have yourself tested and treated as needed.

Avoid Touching Your Face

This might be difficult to do as most of us have the habit of touching our faces. But at times like this, it is highly recommended to avoid doing so. As previously mentioned, the coronavirus is easily spread through close physical contact. Those germs or viruses you got through your hands may reproduce once they reach your eyes, nose, or mouth. So again, do not touch your face.

Stock Up Supplies

Everyone must stay home and avoid crowds at this time. People are panicking about living their everyday life with a handful of supplies. Due to this, please stock up on your food and household supplies. Make sure that you have enough so you won’t have to go out in the following weeks just to get food and other supplies you might need.

Clean and Sanitize Surfaces

As to how we could all fight against any other viruses, make it a habit to stay sanitized and clean. Wash your hands often or use alcohol-based sanitizers. At times like this, alcohol-based disinfectants will be your friend. Use rags, paper towels, or any other clothes by soaking them in alcohol-based disinfectant to wipe down surfaces that are prone to physical contact such as doorknobs, tables, keyboards, etc.

These are just a few tips to avoid contracting the virus and contain its spread. It has indeed been a tough time dealing with this virus outbreak all over the world, and everyone is still in the process of looking for a possible cure and other plans to help alleviate the situation and hopefully get rid of the virus as soon as possible. This has caused panic and worries in numerous countries, but it is in times like this that you need to embrace lifestyle changes and do your part. Stay safe!
